Right wing Propaganda Identies Democracy as a Problem

I have a few right wing relatives and/or friends that I haven't pissed off and they still send me right wing orientated emails. I am deliberately trying to not piss them off so I can see what the righties are circulating.Check this one out if you have time. It poses as an instruction video in civics. It re-frames the right-left paradigm and then identifies Democracy as problem and the major contributing factor to the fall of Rome. I swear, Democracy is cast as evil in this latest right wing production. I am very afraid for our country. Check it out. http://www.wimp.com/thegovernment/

Yes, but who's Oligarchy?

Jim,
I listened to the entire video presentation. It was a good sound analysis, leaving of course to the listener to come to his/her own conclusion. Presented from a very conservative perspective the conclusion they want is of course, is that we have a government based oligarchy.

In fact a good case can indeed be made that we do have an oligarchy (Oligarchy pl. 1. Government by the few.). IMO, Goldman Sachs et. al., with it's tentacles of influence and power in many branches of government; federal and state, including the federal executive branch, could well be considered an oligarchy.

Bill Peltz speaks of Corporate Personhood. If the Supreme Court overturns the McCain-Feingold limitations on corporate and union contributions to election campaigns we will see, in public, the long emerging oligarchy which surfaced during the 2001 presidential elections, when the Supreme Court stepped in to stop the ballot counts in FL, giving the presidency to George Buss, in effect stealing the electon. Then Bush named Scalia and Roberts to the bench, sealing in the emerging oligarchic heirarchy control.

Not good for the American Republic.
