The voice of the Lion of the Senate is now silenced
It is with great sadness that we heard this morning that the voice of the Lion of the Senate, Ted Kennedy has passed on. May his soul rest in peace.
Now the torch is truly passed to the next generation of Kennedy's. May they continue to serve this nation with a much distinction as JFK, RFK, and Ted.
And how ironic his death comes midst debate of the great passion he so long pursued, universal health care for all Americans. It is my prayer that, in his death, the Democrats will be inspired to come together and pass this crucial piece of legislation, dedicate it to him.
God bless his memory. May it inspire us all to greater service.

but "the work goes on, ..."
I must disagree, that voice is not silenced. It hasn't been that long ago he told us, "The work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die." I believed then and I believe now. That voice is still a clarion call for those of us who have looked to him for leadership all these years. We will not see him, but we still read his words etched in our hearts.
We, and all who can catch his torch and carry it another mile, we all must reach up and carry that torch along. Health care reform needs each and every one of our voices, echoing what Sen. Kennedy spoke of so many times in his life, that adequate health care should be a right rather than a privilege of American citizenship. His legacy of legislation reads like the Sermon on the Mount, but there is more still to do.
So as we mourn his loss, and pray, "Rest in peace, and rise in glory," let's all try to also be planning our work to further our collective goal, that of a heaven on earth. We owe him no less.
Yes, You're right
Janet,
Eloquent response. Let us re-dedicate ourselves to many causes the whole Kennedy family sponsored. Let their voices ring down thru the ages as clarion calls for justice.

Wonderful tribute to Ted
A wonderful remembrance to Ted Kennedy. King and the Kennedys are the reason I'm a liberal. Ted struggled with his personal demons, but he also accomplished many great things that benefitted many ordinary Americans.
