Honor

I know what it means to dishonor the dead but what does it mean to honor the thousands who died as a consequence of state belligerence? How does one find kind words for those we never knew and now will never know? What can we say to their widows and orphans?

I heard his name in the news today and recalled I had written Rembert a few years ago:

If the church were Christian

If the church were Christian, Jesus would be a model for living, rather than an object of worship.
If the church were Christian, affirming our potential would be more important than condemning our brokenness.
If the church were Christian, reconciliation would be valued over judgment.

Haiti - the Love of God

Response to the earthquake ranges from a wave of compassion to Pat Robertson's theological argument that a comparison of the fortunes of the Dominican Republic and Haiti can be explained by a voudou ceremony 200 years ago. Pat has made similar arguments before and it is all too easy to dismiss his rants.
